Diable ! 5 cds, plus de cinq heures de musique (et je vous passe le DVD !), on peut dire que le programme de cette edition "coffretée" (à tirage hélas limité, dépêchez-vous, y en aura pas pour tout le monde !) de The Kinks at the BBC est substantielle... Ce que les Kinks, groupe le plus sousestimé des "grands" de l'explosion rock britannique des sixties, mérite amplement.
Le mieux c'est encore de laisser la parole à la musique pour cette énorme collection couvrant trente années d'agitation radiophonique (et télévisuelle) d'un des groupes anglais les plus essentiels qui soient avec, évidemment, tous les standards imparables de leur plus faste période (1964-1971) et de se rendre compte que la suite, pas exempte de faux-pas et d'errances stylistiques, mérite tout de même toute notre attention... Et il y a de quoi faire ! C'est, qui plus est, une excellente façon de montrer que les Kinks, quelque soit la formation, savaient faire tourner leur ritournelles acides autrement qu'en studio et que leur leader, l'immense et ô combien mésestimé Ray Davies, en plus d'être une des plus fines plumes du pop/rock britannique, est aussi un animal qui a des choses à dire comme le démontrent les courtes mais heureusement nombreuses interviews disponibles ici.
The Kinks at the BBC ? Une somme, et un excellent complément de leur discographie studio, à ne surtout pas manquer !
